I began meditating 35 years ago as a student at Western Washington University in Bellingham. Through mindful inquiry, I slowly overcame my anxiety, insecurity and inner fears. Today, I use this experience as a special education and mindfulness teacher at Stevens Elementary and Middle College High School, an alternative school for at-risk high school students in the Seattle Public Schools.
I also offer mindfulness for students and teachers at Salmon Bay, PathFindersK-8, Licton SpringsK8, Washington Middle School through the Everett School District and in Marysville Quil Ceda Elementary School. Mindfulness workshops for teachers emphasize incorporating mindful moments into the teaching day to regulate emotion and attention. My training includes certification as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor, Learning to Breathe curriculum, and CARE for teachers, in training.
